Robot battles, the breathtaking and action-packed combat sport in which machines created by seasoned roboticists and super-smart technology students square off to smash each other, has become the recent buzzword.

Audiences and fans get enthralled when armed robots clash and fight savagely to knock down each other. And this intensifying thrill is the catalyst for turning this techie’s hobby into high-voltage TV shows.

The future-focused sci-fi movies and high-voltage robot combat shows like BattleBots and Robot Wars promise to wow audiences with next-generation bots — snappier, stronger, and bigger than ever before.

Let’s dive deeper into the best robot fight ever in the history of BattleBots, Robot Wars, and sci-fi movies.

What is Robot Fight?

A robot battle is a type of combat sport in which remotely controlled and regulated custom-made machines duke it out to slice, beat, or destroy each other inside a bullet-proof battle box. Technically, they are armored and weaponized vehicles, controlled via microcontrollers or radio control systems instead of being autonomous while functioning. It is like the UFC of bespoke machines that result in extensive mayhem, carnage, and havoc.

Roboticists and hobbyists can pit their wits against each other to have the trophy under their belt. In most contests, combat bots are categorized into different weight classes – the heftier the machine is, the more power it can exert and the more destruction it can cause.

No matter how wild the fights get, proper protection is ensured for the utmost safeness of the audience, judges, and contestants while also offering a beguiling spectacle.

Combat robots are weaponized with hammers, flamethrowers, spinners, axes, projectiles, and more to strike the opponent.

Let’s dig deeper into the best robot fight on robot battle TV shows and movies.

BattleBots, an adaptation of the electrifying British robot combat show, Robot Wars, is an American TV series telecast on Discovery Channel.

The initial series was aired by Comedy Central in the early 2000s and was revoked due to legal disputes over licensing issues after five successful seasons. Later on, the series got revived by overcoming a 13-year hiatus in 2015 and was broadcast by ABC for two seasons.

Discovery Channel and Science have picked BattleBots for the recent reboot runs since 2018.

Now, let’s look into the best robot fight in the history of BattleBots:

Bite Force VS. Witch Doctor

Final Match, Discovery Season 4

In the Discovery season 4 championship bout, the mighty vertical spinner Bite Force encountered another giant spinner – Witch Doctor, the bot that got defeated by Bite Force in the Heavyweight rumble 2016.

Bite Force, once a heavy-duty tracked machine armed with robust grappling jaws, got weaponized with wedgelets for the electrifying season 4. But as the competition started off, it began to go off-balance and lose its wedgelets – thanks to the fierce smashes landed by Witch Doctor.

However, Bite Force, with more power, pushed on and started to dish out heavy thwacks that caused the opponent’s weapon to fail in no time. Being able to self-right for the entire fight, Bite Force kept throwing Witch Doctor into the air and kicking it upside down.

Witch Doctor could not withstand the brutal whacks, got immobilized, and finally was knocked out in 1.56 minutes only, making Bite Force the ultimate winner of the Grand Nut Trophy for the third time.

Best Robot Fight on Robot Wars

Robot Wars, a British STEM-focused robot fight tournament, initially telecast on British television, was a chart-topping TV show where remotely handled robots, mainly created by tech-savvy students and expert robot enthusiasts, were used to battle head-to-head inside a protected battle cage.

With a peak viewer of more than 6-million spectators in the United Kingdom in the late 1990s, it became a smash-hit TV series. The series was picked up by Channel 5 for the 2004 run after BBC Two left it in March 2003. Unfortunately, the season could not meet viewers’ expectations and was ditched by Channel 5 once the Third World Championship series was completed.

Robot Wars was revamped by BBC Two in 2016 and continued airing two more series before it was concluded in 2018.

Eruption VS. Carbide

Grand Final, Series 9, Aired on BBC Two

After all the mayhem created throughout series 9, the title fight again came down to Eruption and Carbide – a battle between a flipper and a spinner who encountered each other thrice in the final championship bout.

Eruption charged straight at Carbide, and both machines started spinning around and striking one another to get involved in a head-on clash as the battle kicked off.

Carbide’s spinner seized up for a while. Eruption made Carbide navigate around and wanted to get beneath it. But the spinner kicked up again, and the attempt went in vain, giving Eruption a few flips in. Carbide shoved into Eruption’s flipper and smacked it from the side that made the latter machine conk out partially.

The tension intensified as Carbide was continuously hitting Eruption. Eruption self-righted but was almost tossed by the Floor Flipper across the combat box as it failed to defend itself against another brutal whack landed by the spinner and fell on the ‘house robot.’

Eruption and its flipper couldn’t withstand the recurrent hard strikes of Carbide, started whirling across the fight cage, and finally ground to a halt – the team Cardige successfully continued their winning streak and was announced as the Ultimate Winner of Robot Wars.

T2: Judgment Day: T-800 VS. T-1000 (1991)

The Terminators – the movie featuring the robots from the future, was revived in a sequel – Terminator2: Judgment Day, in which a cyborg T-800 is sent to save Sarah’s son John from the attacks of a liquid metal cyborg T-1000.

In this Terminator sequel of carnage, both bots battle it out against each other several times, but their last brawl that takes place in a steel mill is, no doubt, the best one where sparks fly.

At first, the T-1000 slams the T-800, the savior, into a huge gear tool that locks its left arm into a grinding wheel. The T-800 rescues itself by splitting the arm with a rod. The recurrent stabbing and hits of the T-1000 make the T-800 conk out for a while until it reactivates itself with an alternative power cell. Meanwhile, the sudden shotgun bursts by Sarah Connor entrapped the T-1000 for some time – this time, Sarah is no longer trying to survive only but fights back.

The T-1000 is about to win, but the T-800 is back in the battle with a bang. It fires exploding bullets, deforms, and burns the enemy to a crisp by throwing it into the smelting chamber. The T-1000 gets destroyed, and the T-800 completes its mission.
